Angola

When you hear the name Angola, the very first thing that comes to mind is the bush war. The next thing that comes to mind is; is it safe to travel to Angola? Yes yes and yes, it’s safe, come with us in a group to show you the absolute beauty of this unbelievable lekker country. Angola is well known for bad roads and that’s why we choose to be different, we don’t believe in driving from sunrise to sundown and for that reason, we’re doing this +-1500km tour in 14 days.
Bonus is the cheap petrol and diesel prices!
This amazing experience will start at Palmeiras Lodge in Namibia. We will all meet up at Palmeiras on the 14th of March 2025.

Angola is a fascinating, undiscovered, and unexplored destination for adventure seekers like us. This is your opportunity if you’re looking for a way off-the-beaten-track kind of adventure. This itinerary is full of great destinations. Traveling in this vast unpopulated southern part will leave us with many memories as the natural beauty of this land wows us as we take in amazing rock formations, countless dry riverbeds, expansive beaches, and a pristine coastline.

The region is rich in history and the scars of the bush war are visible everywhere. We will see scattered remains of army hardware like tanks and vehicles and the ever-present red and white flags indicating the past minefields. Shipwrecks, the abandoned village of Tombua, and the thriving port of Namib, formerly known as Mocamedes, will all be encountered.

Places we visit:

  • Ruacana Falls
  • Foz do Cunene (Kunene River Mouth)
  • Fishing all along the coast
  • Iona National Park
  • Espinheira
  • Flamingo Lodge
  • Pipas Bay
  • Leba Pass
  • Tundavala
  • Humpata (Dorsland Trekkers)
  • Lubango
  • Xangongo
  • Ondjiva

The Monumento do Christo Rei keeps a watchful eye over the city of Lubango. The Christ is King statue (Portuguese: Cristo Rei) is a Catholic monument and shrine overlooking the city of Lubango. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), as one of only four in the world. This 30-meter-high white marble statue was built in 1957.
